First, the honest update: Granola is no longer Mac-only — it shipped a Windows app in 2025, so on Windows you can now run Granola itself. If you want a Granola-style botless notetaker on Windows that also adds an optional meeting bot, in-person recording, an action-item board, and MCP access from Claude or Cursor, Milago is the alternative built around exactly that.
For a long time, “Granola alternative for Windows” was a workaround search — Granola launched as a macOS-only AI notepad, and Windows users had to look elsewhere. That changed in 2025 when Granola released its Windows app. As of July 2026 it is generally available on Windows, so this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
What is still true: Granola is deliberately a notepad — it enhances the notes you type during a call. It does not offer a meeting-bot option, and its free plan limits how much saved history you keep. If you want botless capture plus a bot for the meetings you cannot attend, structured action items on a board, or a way to query your meetings from AI coding tools, you are shopping for a different kind of product. That is where the alternatives below come in.
All claims below were checked in July 2026 against each vendor’s site or current reviews. Where we could not verify something, the cell says “—” rather than guessing.

The Milago desktop app for Windows records two things locally on your machine: your microphone (what you say) and your system audio (what everyone else says through your speakers). No bot, no extra participant, nothing visible to the other side of the call. Because it captures at the audio level, it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams — and equally well for in-person conversations recorded from the desktop or mobile app.
After the meeting, Milago turns the recording into:
And when you cannot attend at all, the optional notetaker bot joins the call for you — the same summary, tasks, and insights either way. See pricing for what each plan includes.
Honesty cuts both ways. Granola remains a genuinely good pick if:
Pick Milago when you want the botless capture and the bot option in one tool, when action items should land on a board instead of inside a note, when you record in-person meetings, or when you want your meetings queryable from Claude or Cursor over MCP.
Yes. Granola was Mac-only at launch, but it shipped a Windows app in 2025, and it has been generally available on Windows since then. So the question in 2026 is not "what replaces Granola on Windows" but "which botless notetaker fits your workflow best" — that is what the comparison on this page covers.
No. The Milago desktop app records your microphone and system audio locally on your Windows machine — no bot or extra participant ever joins the call. If you prefer a hands-free option, Milago also offers an optional notetaker bot that can join Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls for you. You choose per meeting.
Yes. The Free plan includes 2 hours of bot recording + 1 hour of local recording (browser, desktop, or mobile) per month. No credit card required.
Yes. Because Milago captures audio locally from your device instead of joining a video call, it works for in-person conversations too — record from the desktop app or the mobile app, and you get the same transcript, AI summary, and action items as an online meeting.
Yes. Botless local capture records whatever plays through your mic and speakers, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams — and any other meeting software. The optional Milago bot supports Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, GoTo Meeting, Slack Huddles, BlueJeans, and Whereby.
Free plan included — 2 hours of bot recording + 1 hour of local recording per month, no credit card required.
